RESIDENTS are invited to a talk in Droitwich tonight about the Midlands’ role in the Gunpowder Plot.
The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 was a failed assassination attempt against King James I by a group of provincial English Catholics who were led by Robert Catesby.
Author Philip Bowen will give the presentation at 7.30pm tonight at St Andrew’s Church.
He will speak about conspirators from Worcestershire and how local houses played a part in the story.
He will also discuss what caused the plot, how close it came to success and consider its long-term legacy.
Those who go along can also find out about conspiracy theories and links with Macbeth, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes and the Galapaglos Islands.
Refreshments from 7.10pm.
Tickets, at £5, are available on the door.
All proceeds go to church funds
