A CELEBRATION featuring tea, cakes and fizz was held at Droitwich’s Westmead Care Home to toast its good rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The event was held after an unannounced inspection where the home was graded good for all five outcomes, including care, safety and how well led it was.
The report praised the ‘excellent team’ at the home, adding there was a range of fun and interesting activities available to residents, including arts and crafts, knitting and baking.
The home has close links with the wider community, with regular visits from local schools and community groups. The report said people, their relatives and staff were complimentary about the registered manager and the senior team.
Manager Sue Stokes, described as being ‘top class’ by a relative, said: “This CQC rating is a true testament to the dedication of our team here at Westmead, who work tirelessly to ensure they always provide exceptional care with kindness.
“I am so proud of all of my team, our wonderful residents and their families, and am so thankful for their heart-warming comments.”
The only negative aspect mentioned in the report was the ‘mixed comments about the food available’ but the care home’s registered manager told inspectors that was ‘not the usual experience’.
Sanctuary Care, which runs the home, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
