Test your comedy genius and learn life-skills at new Droitwich improv group

THE RECENTLY-launched improvisation group ‘Whose Brine is it Anyway?’ is looking for new members.

The current group of four has been set up to foster laughter, creativity and comedy through ‘theatre on the spot’.

Simon Britton, the group’s founder, believes improv is not just about quick wit, comedic genius, and boundless imagination, it also promises to deliver useful life skills.

“It can help with public speaking confidence, improve interview techniques, make those wedding speeches shine and even lead to quick-witted stage performances for those that want to tread the boards,” he explained.

“Our goal is simple – to make people laugh, teach some useful communication skills, and leave them feeling uplifted.

“With a blend of spontaneity, teamwork, and a touch of absurdity, improv is great fun. It’s the only theatrical form where the moment of inspiration, the moment of creation, and the moment of performance are all the same.

“Improv encourages creative wordplay, increases confidence, alleviates public speaking anxiety, and makes presentations pop – as well as being a fantastic tool for actors, presenters, YouTubers, TikTokers, and anyone who needs to speak to other folks.”

Improv can be funny, serious, short-form (little sketches) or long-form (a whole play) or anything in-between, even a made-up musical or spontaneous songs.”

The plan is to get those interested up to performance level.

An intensive six-hour workshop for 15 people has also been organised for June 22.
