Three arrested after elderly woman was robbed in Wychbold

THREE people were arrested after an elderly woman was robbed in Wychbold yesterday afternoon.

The victim, who was in her 70s and from Bromsgrove, had her handbag containing cash and personal items snatched from her on the Worcester Road around 4.30pm.

She described the young man who carried out the robbery before getting into a waiting blue VW Golf and officers quickly identified a car matching the description.

When the police caught up with the car, the driver tried to run from the scene but was quickly caught by a police dog.




Two other people in the car were held and stolen property was recovered.

A 16-year-old boy from Birmingham and a 19-year-old man from Birmingham were arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 17-year-old boy from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of drugs.


They remain in custody at this time.

Bromsgrove patrol Sgt Steve Hastie said: “The victim was not hurt however was understandably upset and in some shock.”
