Town council launches review over lack of permanent polling station in Tagwell

Droitwich Editorial 17th Nov, 2023   0

A CONSTITUENCY in Droitwich will be subject to a review by the council into a lack of a permanent polling station for voters.

Droitwich Spa Town Council has launched a review of the Tagwell voting ward’s lack of a permanent polling station, with feedback being sought from residents on alternative options.

In recent years, the ward in the south east of the council district has suffered from a reliance on a hired temporary portacabin located either in a pub car park within the ward or the neighbouring region of Copcut.

The nearby ward of Copcut is also reliant on a portacabin to serve voters on polling day although a review is yet to be launched into alternatives for Copcut.

The town council are inviting electors within the Tagwell ward to comment on the convenience of voting at the current polling station – a portacabin in the Red Lion car park in Copcut.

Ward members are also encouraged to provide suggestions for alternative sites, while disabled residents or those with expertise on accessibility are urged to submit advice on accommodating such needs.

Recommendations to the review are asked to be submitted via posting to Electoral Services, Wychavon District Council, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Pershore, WR10 1PT.

Alternatively email [email protected] to submit.
