A SOAP-MAKING company has launched its new range of bathing products which feature Droitwich Salt.

7soaps, started by good friends Karen Blanchfield and Xime Carrillo in 2019, was at the Churchfields Saltworks yesterday to unveil its latest creations.

Throughout lockdown, the pair researched local businesses for natural ingredients.

Karen said: “We knew about Churchfields and their salt that is sourced from one of the oldest and purest brine springs in the world.

“Salt when used in cosmetic products has many benefits to the skin so it was perfect to use Droitwich salt as it is located just six miles from our headquarters.”

The product development has taken about seven months to bring to market and, the pair said, working alongside Droitwich Saltworks had been a pleasure.

Karen added: “Experimenting and working with high quality salt really does make soap-making fun and our recipe is made with natural ingredients which are not harmful to the skin or the environment.

“The team at Droitwich Salt have been incredibly supportive and have helped us to develop a wonderful range that has a dual purpose of being brilliant for shaving.”

7soaps attended Droitwich Rugby Club’s Christmas market last year and their stall was located next to Droitwich Salts which was when the link-up was first discussed.

The two businesses have communicated via Zoom during lockdown and the products were tested by the Droitwich Salt team and 7soaps’ customers.

Karen said: “The feedback has enabled a high quality salt soap bar with long lasting durability come to market today and we are delighted to introduce these into our community.”

Karen and Xime are both passionate about the environment and crafting and the company is proud to be plastic free and use natural ingredients and products found at home and in the garden.

It also has a vegan range to ensure it caters for everyone and the pair have taught soap-making to other people in the community at a variety of events.

Xime is a biologist creating many soap recipes from local produce, ensuring natural ingredients are used in every hand-made soap.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and Brexit, 7soaps’ online sales growth has increased along with more people shopping and supporting local businesses.
