A TRIAL date has been set for the owners of a Droitwich card shop who refused to close during the national lockdown, breaching Government restrictions.

Grace Cards and Books appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court where the owners pleaded not guilty to four breaches of The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions ) (England) (No.4) Regulations Act 2020.

The business was issued with a prohibition notice by Worcestershire Regulatory Services, acting on behalf of Wychavon District Council, on November 19, 2020, for refusing to close in line with national restrictions.

At the time all non-essential shops were required to close between November 5 and December 2 2020.

The trial will take place on August 17.
