Tributes paid to 25-year-old 'Pilot Pete' who died after hot air balloon crash in Ombersley

TRIBUTES have been paid to the man who died yesterday morning (Sunday) when a hot air balloon fell to the ground.

Peter Gregory, who was from The Cotswolds, lost his life in the the incident off Holt Fleet Road, near the A449 in Ombersley.

His family said Peter had ’25 years of living life to the full’.

“Our Pilot Pete took one last flight, doing what he loved.

“Be it in a hot air balloon or as an airline pilot, Peter’s passion for flying was something his family and friends could only admire and support him towards.

“When he set his heart to something, he’d never give up, he was driven and determined, and one could only watch on in awe.




“We will fly together again soon Pete.”

The family statement concluded with: ‘We love you’ and was signed off by Dan, Mummy, Daddy and Emma.


Pete’s family and friends have requested privacy during this difficult time.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are being invested by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.

A West Mercia spokesperson said family liaison officers were supporting the family but there was no other police involvement.
