Trust launches support line for patients and relatives in local hospitals

Droitwich Editorial 9th Apr, 2020   0

A SUPPORT phone line has been established by local health chiefs to help patients and relatives who can’t see each other due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Set up by Worcester Acute Hospitals NHS Trust it’s aimed purely at patients and the relatives of patients in the Alexandra Hospital and Worcester Royal Hospital.

Manned by the chaplaincy team at the trust, they emphasise it is not a general helpline for members of the public.

A spokesperson said: “We know it’s a really difficult time if you have been admitted and can’t see loved ones, or if you have a loved one admitted to hospital.

“If you are a patient and not sure what’s happening with your treatment or investigations, or maybe you just feel upset or anxious about your treatment or appointments being postponed, please keep this support line in mind.

“The patient and relative support line is an extension of our Chaplaincy service and offers 24/7 emotional support and a listening ear to any patient in our hospitals at this difficult time, or for their relatives.

“Manned by our Chaplaincy team and a team of committed chaplaincy volunteers, it is a confidential service which we hope can give comfort if and when it may be needed.”

The number – 0300 303 3544 – is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the current crisis.
