DRIVERS have been warned not to drive through floodwater after a large van became stranded in 3ft of water at Droitwich’s Shell Ford.
The incident, at 10.36am this morning, took place following the deluge last night and this morning.
A Water First Responders crew from Droitwich Fire Station attended Shell Ford in Himbleton.
Two men were rescued from the vehicle using an inflatable sled and the road was cordoned off ahead of attendance from the highways agency.
The incident was closed by the fire crews at 11.40am.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have warned motorists not to drive through floodwaters – particularly flooded fords. Swelled waterways make it difficult to anticipate how deep the water levels are which can lead to vehicles becoming stranded, as happened this morning.
We reported yesterday how the Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in Droitwich and the rest of Worcestershire.
