UPDATE - Flood warnings for Bromsgrove and Droitwich withdrawn as river levels fall

Droitwich Editorial 27th Dec, 2021 Updated: 27th Dec, 2021   0

FLOOD warnings which were in place for Bromsgrove and Droitwich have now been withdrawn after river levels dropped.

The Environment Agency said yesterday the River Salwarpe was higher than usual which had the potential to cause flooding of roads, low-lying land and farmland.

The area thought to have been affected spanned from Catshill to Hawford and included Stoke Heath, Elmley Lovett, Droitwich Spa and Ombersley.

With further rainfall on its way the EA issued a warning.

But now river levels have now fallen below the flood risk threshold.

Further rainfall showers are forecast over the next 24 hours, however river levels are not expected to rise again significantly in this location.

The EA said it continued to monitor the situation and urged anyone who did encounter floodwaters to avoid contact with them.
