Used syringes found in shed on Droitwich allotments

THE OWNER of an allotment in Droitwich turned up to his plot to find someone had been in his shed, moved items around and left used syringes behind.

The incident happened between 6pm on September 13 and 1pm on September 14 at the Copcut Park allotments which are accessed via the Worcester Road, near the Red Lion pub.

It is thought a drug user had gained access to the outbuilding by climbing over the perimeter fence and used the shed for shelter and to sleep in, leaving two needles behind.

A spokesperson for Droitwich Town Council, which owns and runs the allotments, said: “When we were informed we arranged for the needles to be disposed of and passed the information onto the police.

“It’s one of those seasonal issues that comes up at this time of year when the nights get colder.”

The police confirmed nothing had been stolen and have urged allotment owners to report any similar incidents and to ensure their sheds were locked and secured.

PC Richard Rees from the Droitwich Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said officers were aware of the situation and were investigating.

Witnesses or anyone with any information on this or any drug activity should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
