Droitwich volunteers raise £1,250 for Blue Cross by ‘rescuing’ damaged bicycles

VOLUNTEERS in Droitwich have raised more than £1,250 for the Blue Cross by ‘rescuing’ unwanted and damaged bicycles.

Dave and Jude Thompson have been collecting mangled bicycles, restoring them, and then selling them between £15 and £100 at the charity shop on St Andrew’s Street.

Usually the couple find out about the bikes through word of mouth but one damaged bike was found abandoned in a bush.

Nicky Carr, Blue Cross shop manager, said: “We are delighted Dave and Jude have reached such an incredible landmark figure through their fantastic fund-raising efforts.

“Volunteers are vital in our ongoing work to help pets in need, and we are very grateful to each and every one of them.

“Well done Dave and Jude and keep up the great work – it certainly gives a new meaning to ‘recycling’.”

Anyone with unwanted bikes Dave and Jude could restore should call 01905 795316.
