Volunteers sought to help get new youth centre in Droitwich

Droitwich Editorial 19th Mar, 2021   0

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to create a new youth centre in Droitwich.

Residents and organisations are being urged to come forward for the venture which will be in the town centre.

The Droitwich Area Young People’s Action Group (DAYPAG) – made up of local representatives from youth and support organisations – has started the process of developing a youth club with a more informal drop-in approach.

The plan is to have it at the heart of the town as an alternative for young people who do not wish to join existing youth organisations.

Coun Richard Morris, DAYPAG chairman, said he wanted to bring young and older people together, along with local organisations which wished to contribute and volunteer to help realise the project.

“Droitwich Spa High School is supporting the need for a facility and my colleague Coun Mark Craigie undertook a consultation with young people and this showed the desire for a central location so they can meet with friends from across the town.

“In order to deliver this project successfully for young people of our town, we need support from the community so if you are a resident, local organisation, parent or young person and would like to be involved in the project and are able to support please get in touch.”

Anyone interested should email Coun Morris at [email protected] and he will be organising an inaugural meeting for it in due course.
