Walk to Malvern raises cash for Cancer Research

Droitwich Editorial 4th Sep, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A DROITWICH man has raised £535 for Cancer Research UK after walking from Worcester Pitchcroft to Malvern Link and back again.

Steve Richardson is the caretaker of the former Droitwich sheltered housing development Chalverton Court and a member of Droitwich Lawn Tennis Club.

He was given sponsorship by his family, residents of Chalverton Court and members of the tennis club.

He participated in the walk in memory of Keith Smith, another resident’s husband and neighbours who are tenants of Nexus Housing, the association he works for.

Keith’s widow Angela Smith, and 25 others, took part in the attempt, each raising amounts to go towards their chosen charity.

Steve told The Standard: “The walk was carried out in very good spirits and I am so glad to have been able to complete it and help in this worthy cause as very few of us have not had some family or friends that have been visited by this terrible illness at some point in their lives.”
