Webbs to support colleagues affected by brain tumours on Wear a Hat Day

STAFF at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold are supporting Wear a Hat Day on March 26 in a bid to raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research.

They will also be joined by Webbs in West Hagley, and Cheltenham, in the fight against the wicked disease.

Clare Callaway, who works in the plant section at Webbs Wychbold, has a daughter who was diagnosed with a brain tumour 12 years ago, aged eight.

“Megan has undergone multiple surgeries as well as radiotherapy,” said Clare.

“She has been left with life-changing consequences, including sight loss, memory issues, cognitive impairment and hypopituitarism.

“It was only when Megan was diagnosed that we learnt how badly underfunded research into this devastating disease is.

“I am really happy Webbs is supporting Brain Tumour Research through its Wear A Hat Day event.

“It’s great fun and a really worthwhile cause.”

Head of HR at Webbs, Jacqui Sheard, said Wear a Hat Day was scrapped last year because of the national lockdown.

And with many staff still on furlough, Webbs is encouraging employees to send in a picture of themselves wearing a hat at home.

“It’s really good to have something so positive to look forward to,” she said.

“We are excited about donning our best hats, sharing photos and asking friends to donate to this vital cause to help find a cure for this terrible disease.”

Wear A Hat Day has raised more than £2million to help fund the fight against the disease over the last 12 years.

It is one of the UK’s biggest and best-loved brain tumour research awareness and fundraising days.
