WESTACRE Middle School in Droitwich held a Great Get Together last Friday to commemorate the tragic death of MP Jo Cox.
Leah Starkey, part of the pastoral and well-being team at Westacre, led parents in an outside yoga class and afterwards everyone congregated in the school hall for cake and squash, giving parents and staff the opportunity to spend time together.
Deputy headteacher Catherine Doolin said: “We were thrilled by the number of parents who attended our Great Get Together.”
The school reflected on Cox’s speech made to Parliament where she said: “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.”
Jo was the Member of Parliament for the Batley and Spen constituency.
She was elected in May 2015 and was murdered on June 16, 2016, in Birstall where she was due to hold a surgery for her constituents.
