A PROJECT which helps educate youngsters on internet safety is being spearheaded by a Droitwich School.
Westcare Middle School has been at the forefront of the Catshill Learning Partnership’s scheme to introduce webinars to teach children about the dangers of being online. Internet Safety Day on Tuesday (February 9) will see these new workshops held and a poster competition launched across the county.
The activities have been organised between Westcare Computing Community and West Mercia Police, which will be judging the posters at the force’s headquarters at Hindlip Hall on February 22.
Brett Laniosh, who runs the Catshill Learning Partnership, said: “It is important that anyone who comes into contact with young people or uses social media such as Facebook and Twitter becomes familiar with how to behave online.
“The internet can be a daunting place, but with a few simple rules it is possible for everyone to be e-safe.
“We are keen for as many schools as possible to get involved with Safer Internet Day, which is why we are launching the poster competition.”
