STUDENTS from a Droitwich school spent a week learning how to keep fit and lead a healthy lifestyle.
The Year Seven pupils from Westacre Middle School took part in a range of activities to learn about both physical and mental well-being, as well as the role of nutrition in health and fitness.
Organised to coincide with the school’s annual residential trip at the Drapers’ Field Centre in Betws-y-Coed, North Wales, up to 65 children took part in outdoor activities such as rock climbing, gorge scrambling and orienteering.
Despite the wet, snowy and windy conditions, all of the pupils and staff managed to climb 2000 ft, two-thirds of the way to the summit, and to celebrate, the evening ended with a campfire, singsong, games and marshmallow toasting.
The other Year Seven children at Westacre who stayed back at school took part in team building games and Yoga sessions led by the staff.
To help them see where their food comes from, and to learn how food is grown and made, they all visited the Tesco Superstore in Warndon as part of the Farm to Fork initiative.
Head of Year, Phil Cotton, said: “I am incredibly proud of every single child – they have been a credit to themselves and their families for the way they have conducted themselves during the week and for the vast amount of learning they have completed”.
