PUPILS from Droitwich’s Westacre Middle School have taken a shot at photography as part of a half-term competition.
The children and staff were challenged to take a photo that best represented nature in science.
With 100 entries the photos featured gardens, local parks, as well as family holidays in the UK and abroad.
Award-winning photographer Phil Hill chose ten finalists and the overall winner Emmie Clarke from year five who were all awarded with certificates and prizes.
The children also took part in a photography workshop with Phil where they were given more practical tips on finding and taking the perfect photo.
He said he was honoured to have been asked to take part in such a wonderful event, adding he was truly impressed by both the pupils’ effort and creativity.
“It was a very difficult decision to whittle the photos down, but the ten finalists really stood out for how well they had composed some interesting scenes.
“Emmie’s photograph in particular impressed me as it captured a moment in time so well.”
The school’s science teacher Hattie Radburn, who organised the contest, said: “It has been amazing to see and hear about such enthusiasm and interest in this area of science from both children and their families over the last couple of weeks.”
