STAFF and students from Witton Middle School will hold a traditional Drum Head Field Service today, writes Demi Andrews.
During the event, five drums and standards will be laid and consecrated, just as in military scenes throughout the world.
The school will welcome distinguished guests, such as Royal British Legion County Chairman David Waldron and Rev Laura Handy.
Also attending the event is Sgt Endean, a serving Mercian soldier and member of the Mercian Band who will lead the ‘Last Post’, as well as ex-servicemen from the school community.
The service at 1.45pm has been planned by one of the school’s teachers who is also an ex-army major.
