COUNTY council chiefs have urged residents to ‘Love Parks’ across Worcestershire and take their litter home after concerns over the amount of rubbish left during recent socially distanced visits.
Keep Britain Tidy and its Centre for Social Innovation has developed a new ‘Love Parks’ campaign to address the issue of litter being left behind in parks.
The campaign has been funded as part of Government’s Coronavirus response and will showcase the impact of littering, including non-medical face coverings, as well as unauthorised barbeques and campfires, and breaches of the countryside code.
As part of the campaign, Worcestershire County Council has asked visitors to take their litter home with them.
Coun Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for Communities, said: “Our country parks, nature reserves and picnic areas give people the chance to enjoy the great outdoors right on their doorstep.
“Please let’s keep that community spirit we’ve shown during this pandemic by making sure we look after our green spaces and take our litter home.”
Worcestershire manages 17 country parks, nature reserves and picnic places including St Wulstan’s Nature Reserve, Waseley Hills Country Park and Worcester Woods Country Park.
