THE DROITWICH Working Men’s Club has launched a new campaign to let non-members know they are welcome to the venue.
The 100-year-old club has always welcomed non-members but wants more people to be aware the venue exists and move away from previous reputations surrounding working men’s clubs.
Martin Maycroft, Droitwich Working Men’s Club secretary, said: “We thought to put more signs outside to let people know that we are here and that non-members are welcome.
“There are stigmas surrounding places like this, where people think that they cannot come in, so we are trying to get away from that and be even more welcoming.”
Droitwich Spa Print helped make the new sign, as the club was keen to use a town business to help get the message out there.
The venue is known for running weekly community events, such as darts and dancing and is home to other clubs which have lost their venues, including the Royal British Legion.
The Working Men’s Club is run by its 260 members – a variety of different groups of people within the Droitwich community.
All money raised goes back into hosting events within the clubs, such as tribute acts, competitions and live bands.
When events are running, entry for non-members is £2.
Members also get 30p off pints and 20p off bottled drinks.
