Wychbold family get creative to raise funds for St Richard's Hospice

A NEW ‘close-knit’ community is being created by a talented Wychbold woman who is making woolen toys in return for donations to St Richard’s Hospice.

For each anonymous contribution to her fund-raising page Helen Lockley knits a character and sends it to the charity where Kelly Johns ensures the toys go to a patient or one of their relatives.

If the donor leaves their contact details they also receive one of the toys as well.

The charity drive, which is up to £300 so far, has been a real Lockley family effort – as well as Helen making the toys, her husband Ian takes the photographs for the campaign’s Twitter page and their son Jack goes through the patterns and modifies them to ensure every character created is unique.

Helen said: “My husband suggested a few years ago that we do something for St Richard’s Hospice and then we did a 12-mile walk for the charity.

“This is our latest idea to raise funds for it.”
