Wychfest set to wow the crowds on bank holiday weekend

Droitwich Editorial 17th Aug, 2024   0

THE ORGANISERS of this year’s Wychfest music festival hope the event will be bigger and better than ever when it takes place at Droitwich Rugby Club over the bank holiday weekend.

The festival, on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25, raised vital funds for the club and its community activities.

Iain Thomas, chairman of Droitwich Rugby Club, said the event would boast music acts for everyone.

Among the performers are Miss Disco, Vicky Jackson – a Pink tribute act – and WaterlooABBA, a Worcestershire-based nationally renowned Abba tribute.

Camping is available, along with food and drink from vendors, such as Pizza Heaven, Manny’s Eats, Brisket Bros and Droitwich Desserts.

Other attractions include free bouncy castles, crazy golf and appearances from local Doorstep Princesses.

Mr Thomas said – at only £15 for the two days – it was much cheaper than many other festivals.

“It’s pretty relaxed throughout the weekend, it’s not heaving as we have huge amounts of space.

“The whole event is family oriented and we normally have hundreds of people return each year because it’s something different and helps local causes.

“There’s lots of space and families tend of come down with their chairs and relax whilst listening to the music.”

The event was started six years ago because the club wanted to hold more events for the community.

The organisers want to thank the event’s Sponsors – Production Support Services Droitwich and Bromsgrove District Council Commercial Waste Services.

“Without them, the event would not be possible,” added Mr Thomas.
