Young and old join for World Book Day as Droitwich schools link up with town care home

YOUNG and old celebrated World Book Day together in Droitwich as pupils from Hindlip and Tibberton CE First Schools visited Fernhill House care home, writes Caprice Harrison.

Pupils dressed as characters from their favourite books and delighted their hosts by reading stories to them.

The older people also spent time reminiscing to the children about the books they read when they were younger.

One said: “It was nice to have the children in to read for us.

“They were all well behaved and kept us entertained. The books that they are reading are so different to when I was a child.”

The variety of books varied from Matilda and Harry Potter and a few places in between.

Home manager Angie Ryan said the residents were very excited about the visit.

“We are always looking for different ways that we can involve the residents with the local community.”
