A TEENAGER has raised £50 for Droitwich Methodist Church after making decorative wooden angels.

Sam Hinde, 15, first produced the winged figures from MDF in 2017 so he could give them to his family and friends as Christmas presents.

He said people seemed to like them so he had the idea of producing more for a good cause.

The 15-year-old approached his design technology (DT) teacher at Droitwich Spa High School and was able to create 50 angels.

He painted them in different colours, adding glitter and a ribbon and, after researching how much similar shop-bought items sold for, retailed his at £2 each.

They were sold via St Peters Droitwich CofE Academy, a local beautician and via family, friends and neighbours.

Sam added: “The project took more time than I thought as I needed to do this alongside revision.

“If I had more time I could have sold lots more.”

Sam’s interest in carpentry has grown over the years and he has been able to make other items at home.

He is now hoping to secure an apprenticeship in carpentry when he completes his GCSEs.
