Young Droitwich swimmer on 'pathway to Olympics' after stellar competition performance

DROITWICH Dolphins’ Sebastian Payne picked up two gold and two silver medals at the Welsh summer nationals swimming competition.

The 13-year-old took first in the 400m freestyle and 200m butterfly and came second in the 400m individual medley and 100m butterfly.

Seb, who has been with the club six years, could follow in the footsteps of fellow Welshman and former Droitwich Dolphin Matt Richards who has just won a silver in the 200m freestyle and was part of the gold-winning 4x200m freestyle relay team.

Dave White, the Droitwich Dolphins’ head coach, said: “2028 Olympics or beyond who knows, but Sebastian is treading the same pathway as Matt.”
