YOUNGSTERS can show off their creative sides by entering a new ‘Artist of the Year’ competition which has been launched by Hobbycraft Droitwich, writes Tom Banner.
There are three categories in the contest – Junior Artist of the Year for under-12s, Student Artist of the Year for those 13 and over or in full-time education, and the main Artist of the Year award for over 16s.
The winner of each category will take home the grand prize of the £200 gift-card while the six runners up will win a £20 card.
In addition to these prizes, the winners of each category will have their artwork displayed in-store as well as having a ‘Meet the Artist’ feature on the Hobbycraft blog.
Store manager Malcolm Davies said “We’re passionate about supporting local artists and want to offer them a platform to showcase their talent.
“Whether you are a complete beginner or have been creating for years, we want to see your masterpieces.”
All entries must be submitted by September 14 either in-store, via the Hobbycraft blog, Instagram and Twitter.
Artists must provide details of which category they would like to enter as well as a short piece describing their work.
Finally they must attach an image of their piece along with the hashtag #ArtForTheWin
