A CHARLIE and the Chocolate Factory-style competition is coming to Droitwich to give children the chance to win a hot air balloon ride at next year’s SaltFest.
The organisers of the popular festival have teamed up with four shops in the town which will each be selling 100 candy bags containing 4oz of mixed sweets.
Some of the bags contain the ‘golden’ balloon ride tickets. Those who win them can follow the information on the tickets to register with the Flight Captain’s Ground Crew which is organising the event.
The balloons are tethered to anchor points then lift off up in the air, giving beautiful bird’s eye views of Droitwich and the surrounding areas.
Droitwich Town Crier Edgar Harwood is officially opening SaltFest in the balloon at 6pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024, with the children’s rides taking place afterwards.
The shops selling the bags of sweets are Ron’s News 3 Queen Street, Drinks Express, 31 Ombersley Street, Spar Droitwich and the Westlands Supermarket, 1 Farmers Way.
Children need to be aged between 10 and 13 to go in the balloon.
SaltFest organiser Simon Berry said: “The bags would make ideal Christmas presents as they could have a golden ticket inside.
“Happy Christmas everyone and good luck.”
