Youngsters urged to explore the great outdoors at Lower Smite Farm's Brambly Hedge event

YOUNG Droitwich explorers will be able to take part in some activities centred around Jill Barklem’s popular children’s series Brambly Hedge.

The events, from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday (April 6) at Lower Smite Farm, are aimed at getting children aged five to 12 out and about and closer to nature.

There will be a spring scavenger hunt in search of all things wild and wonderful and children can unearth their imaginations with a trail.

They will prepare a wild picnic for character Wilfred Toadflax’s secret birthday celebration before taking part in small mammal trapping in the hope of finding the Brambly Hedge mice in their natural habitat.

Hannah Thomas, the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust’s engagement officer, said: “With spring on the horizon, now is the perfect time to get out and explore the wonders of the great outdoors.”

She added it was a fantastic opportunity for children to enjoy the local countryside and make new friends whilst improving their literacy skills.

Wilfred and Primrose’s Wild Adventure costs just £3.50 per child to attend and booking is essential on 01905 754919.
