Droitwich Men's B secure convincing 6-0 victory

DROITWICH Men’s B bounced back from their opening day defeat with a convincing 6-0 victory over David Lloyd Dudley A in Division Five of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire League.

Oliver Shier and Robin Poyser played some superb tennis as they dominated their opponents 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3.

Mark Pearsall and Bob Smith showed tremendous grit and determination to win two hard-fought matches 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 and 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.

Team captain Nick King with Eric Cartelet came from a set down to win 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 before a solid 6-1, 6-0 victory in their second.




Droitwich’s Mixed A team got a winning draw to open their Division One campaign against Manor Park C.

Joe Maidment and Marelize York lost a long match 6-0, 5-7, 6-7 before being edged in a two tight sets 4-6, 4-6.


Lisa Pettener-Jones and Matt Baker needed to fight to the bitter end to win their first match 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 before finishing the job with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in their second match to seal the victory with the number of games won.

Elsewhere, the Ladies A team picked up their second win of the summer season away to Ross-on-Wye A in Division One.

Heidi Harris and Kate Hughes complimented each other wonderfully as they dominated both of their matches 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2.

Sophie Sallows and York also played some excellent tennis as they won both matches in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 and 6-0, 6-0.

Penny Maidment and Pettener-Jones matched their team-mates by not dropping a single set with a 6-4, 6-1 victory in their first game and a 7-5, 6-2 win in their second.
