FOOTBALL League cult hero Adebayo Akinfenwa and club Director David Stockdale are set to be in attendance at Drotwich Spa’s midweek cup tie against Pershore Town.
The Saltmen face the Plums in a Worcestershire Senior Cup quarter-final on Tuesday, January 10 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the King George Playing Fields.
Akinfenwa retired from playing at the end of last season and scored just under 200 goals in the Football League for the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton Town.
And Akinfenwa will have the privilege of drawing the winning raffle ticket for Spa’s raffle prize.
The striker, nicknamed ‘The Beast’, was renowned for his remarkable strength and was notably the strongest footballer in the world on the popular FIFA football video game series.
He won three promotions from the Football League during his career which included helping Wycombe climb from League Two to the Championship.
And it was at the Chairboys where he played with Spa Director Stockdale who is currently number one at League One promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday.
Stockdale has twice won promotion to the Premier League, with Hull City and Brighton and Hove Albion, and previously played for Birmingham City and Fulham.
The 37-year-old has made 39 appearances in the top flight and joined Spa as a Director in January 2019.
