BROMSGROVE Tennis Club have another promotion to shout after Ladies G Team brought an impressive season to a close with a 4-0 win against David Lloyd Worcester C.

The victory not only rounded off an unbeaten campaign but also secured captain Avril Pugh’s side promotion from Division 11.

Once again the pairs of Naomi Moore with Sue Corfield and Pugh with Claire Andrews were too strong for their opponents as they only dropped one set in the win.

Pugh said: “It’s been a real squad effort and everyone has played an important part. I’m so pleased those at the beginning of their competitive careers have had such an enjoyable and successful season.”

Also pressing for promotion are Bromsgrove’s Men’s C Team as they showed real fighting spirit to run out 4-0 winners at Bewdley.

Both pairs of Tim Wright with John Casey and Alistair Liddle with Trevor Errington had to dig deep to win marathon three set contests against Bewdley.

Captain Casey said: “It was an important win and now means a victory in our final match will guarantee promotion.

“I was really proud of the determination shown to come back and win from some tight situations, especially after a long rain break and the change of surfaces that was needed.”

There was disappointment for Bromsgrove’s Ladies A Team who went down 3-1 to a strong Stourbridge side, while the club’s Ladies D Team suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Kidderminster.

Elsewhere, Bromsgrove’s Mixed C Team beat MRSA 3-1. Both Di Inchley with Alan Colley and Linda and John Casey held on to win some critical tie breaks to clinch the victory which sees them consolidate their mid table position in Division 5.
