Bellion wraps up two bank holiday opens

ANGLING: TORRENTIAL rain greeted the start of the Thursday PM open with Steve Bellion, peg 13, opting to fish the long pole down the bank side edge with paste on the hook over pellet feed throughout to net carp up to 10lb and stockies to finish just in front with a total weight of 64lb 4oz.

Danny Trisigne, peg 33, who also fished long pole in to the corner with 4mm pellet on the hook for his weight of carp and stockies to finish a close second with 60lb 15oz.

Craig O’Brien, peg 18, fished the long pole along the margins with corn on the hook over 4mm feed for his weight in carp and stockies of 49lb 7oz for third place.

Warren Beech, peg 28, fished the pellet feeder up to the island with corn on the hook and late down the edge with pole and pellet for his weight of 49lb 6oz to finish fourth.




The Saturday open was a different day but Thursday’s winning peg 13 being the bonus peg was the one to draw and Warren Beech was the lucky man to get it and he made no mistake fishing long pole down the margin shelf throughout with double corn on the hook over 4mm feed to net carp up to six pounds and stockies for his weight of 64lb to seal an easy victory.

Dale Jackson, peg 24, who fished similar tactics for his weight of carp and stockies 43 10.


Mark Workman, peg 11, fished pole and pellet at 13m over a number of swims to weigh carp, stockies and silvers for 37lb 8oz.

Fourth place was Les Ayres, peg 1, who fished long and short pole for his weight of 36lb 15oz.

The Bank Holiday Monday PM open saw a good turn out with Steve Bellion, peg 28, recording his second holiday. Bellion fished the method feeder up to the island throughout with 8mm banded pellet on the hook to regularly net pristine carp up to 6lb and F1s to weigh 65lb 15oz and a comfortable win from Liam Workman, peg 11, who fished the pole and pellet tactics and 13m for his weight of 45lb 5oz to weigh carp and F1s for second place.

Russell stone, peg 36, fished the bomb tactics with 8mm banded pellet on the hook tight to the island for his weight of carp and stockies and third place 39lb 9oz.

John Adamson, peg 13, fished the long pole tactics down the margins with corn on the hook over 4mm pellets for his weight of 33lb 9oz of carp and stockies for fourth place.

LAST week on the Thursday open 15-year-old Oliver Hughes White, peg 3, recorded his best open result to date fishing pellet waggler in open water with 6mm banded pellet on the hook over constant 6mm feed to net carp up to 6lbs and stockies to finish in fourth place.
