PROMISING Droitwich boxer Joe Doyle will be fighting for a place in the National Schools Championship Final in Evesham on Sunday after an emphatic quarter-final win.
In the contest in Birmingham against North West champion, Callum Day, Joe was awarded all three rounds by the judges to score a unanimous points decision win and move just two fights away from the English title.
The 12-year-old outboxed his tough Liverpudlian opponent, with his superior fitness and power really coming to the fore in the final round as his ferocious combinations landed on target throughout.
With his semi-final on home Worcestershire turf on Sunday, it is hoped that Spa boxing fans will make the short journey to De Montfort School Sports Hall in Evesham to support Joe in his bid to reach the national final.
A full boxing bill gets underway at 2pm and admission is £10.
