TOM Ingram secured two race wins on the penultimate weekend of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season to move joint top of the drivers’ standings.

Ingram, driving for Droitwich-based Team Bristol Street Motors, won races one and three at a rain-soaked Silverstone to move level on points with main title rival Jake Hill.

The pair both sit on 365 points ahead of the season finale at Brands Hatch next month (October 5 and 6).

Hill leads Ingram in the standings by virtue of securing seven race wins to Ingram’s five over the course of the Championship.

Ingram said: “It’s an important stage of the season. I said at the start of the weekend that this was going to be the starter before the main course.

“Silverstone does that to you before you move to the finale and we really needed that. Amazing job from Team Bristol Street Motors, so so good.”

Team Bristol Street Motors sit second in the teams standings on 545 points behind leaders NAPA Racing UK (656 points).

The Droitwich-based team also had Tom Chilton (seventh) and Dan Zelos (10th) in the top-10 finishers in race one with Nick Halstead (16th) further back.

Ingram placed fourth in race two as title rival Hill topped the podium with Zelos eighth and Halstead 18th while Chilton suffered a DNF.

However, Ingram responded to win race three with Zelos eighth again, Chilton 12th and Halstead 18th.
