Bumper crowd sees Sporting hit Studley for six

THE SECOND highest crowd in Bromsgrove Sporting’s short history witnessed a dominant display by the home team who hammered six goals past Studley on Boxing Day, writes Adam Warner.

Former Rouslers boss Adrian Mander would have had high hopes of running their in-form opponents close as he field six ex-Sporting players who all had a point to prove.

But as soon as Reece Hewitt struck inside the opening five minutes they were on the back foot as Bromsgrove dominated possession. Chrisi Conway made it 2-0 on the 37th minutes before Sporting stepped things up in the second half.

The striker added another as his side went on to score three more, with Sam Wills, Sean Brain and Will Tibbetts all getting their name on the score-sheet.

A total of 501 fans turned out for the match at the Victoria Ground and they were soon sent into raptures. Will Tibbetts played the ball into Hewitt who rounded two defenders before calmly slotting home.

Bromsgrove completely took control of the match, giving Sean Williams and Josh McKenzie little time on the ball and often doubling up on the former Rouslers players.

And with less than ten minutes before the break, the home side scored their second. This time, Conway capitalised on a mistake from Toby Checketts and raced clear before driving the ball under Studley keeper Shaun Edwards.

Things then went from bad to worse for the Warwickshire side as Conway netted in similar style 12 minutes into the second period.

Wills made it four on the hour mark with a sublime curling effort from outside the box before Sporting notched up another moments later, with Brain scoring with his first touch of the ball.

At 5-0, Bromsgrove could afford to relax, but they continued to pile forward and they completed the scoring when Tibbett struck ten minutes from time.
