Cammish revs up title charge

HALFORDS Yuasa Racing driver Dan Cammish was in disbelief after claiming two more podium finishes at Knockhill in the British Touring Car Championship.

After securing a third place in the opening race, Cammish followed up by racing home in second in race two in the latest example of his consistency on the track.

It means he lies just 11 points behind Team BMW leader Colin Turkington and a solitary point behind BMW Pirtek Racing driver Andrew Jordan, to sit in third place with just two rounds remaining.

Cammish said: “If you had told me we were going to come to Knockhill and cut the point deficit to our rivals by two thirds I wouldn’t have believed you.

“It was the right decision to use the medium tyre in race one and taking second in race two set us up for a strong finish.

“Our rivals losing points was the icing on the cake.”

His team-mate Matt Neal, meanwhile, suffered disappointment in Fife, after a DNF in race one followed by 15th and 11th placings in the final two races.

“The weekend was disappointment for me but very good for Dan and for the team,” he said.

“We thought this would be the difficult track for us so to close the points gap was really positive.”
