RUTH HADLEY was the biggest success at the Worcestershire County Championships as she claimed two golds throughout a medal-filled tournament for Droitwich Dolphins Swimming Club.
Over the course of the three-weekend long competition held in Redditch and Wolverhampton, Droitwich Dolphins had a successful Championships, reaching 28 finals and walking away with 25 medals.
Twenty of those were age group medals and the other five was won in Championship finals.
In total, 23 swimmers competed, ranging from those in the 11-years age group to three swimming in the Masters category.
And it was Ruth who was the biggest success as she became County Champion in the 100m Individual Medley, while also picking up a gold medal in her age group.
She also achieved further silver and bronze medals in the Championship finals, and added another silver and bronze medal to her age group tally.
Aaron Biddle claimed silver and bronze medals in the Championship finals, while walking away with the same medals in his age group.
Other age group medal winners included Rebecca Hadley (silver), George Grech (three bronze), Dan Kay (silver) and Alison Whiteman (two bronze).
Five of the swimmers also achieved 19 regional qualifying times, with debutants Grech, Alex Munro and Ashleigh Turner achieving five between them, while Biddle and Hadley achieved the rest.
Emily Turner, vice chairman of Droitwich Dolphins, said: “It was a great Championship for the club and was a good indicator showing how all the hard work being put into training is starting to give rewards.
“The swimmers now have a few months of hard work to get ready for the regional championships to be held in Coventry in May.
“All those who competed should be very proud of their achievements.”
The other squad members at the Championships were Georgia Appleton, Matthew Daniels, Tom Dean, Tom Evans, Harry Grech, Morgan King, Anja Kristy, Elle Mortimer, Sophie Pitts, Felicity and Tim Quiney, Elize Smith, Martha Stead and Sean Storey.
