CHARLOTTE CRIDDLE bagged a hat-trick as Droitwich Spa Ladies continued their fine pre-season form with a 6-2 victory at Shrewsbury Juniors on Sunday.

The game could not have started any better for Spa who scored with their first attack when Nicky Greg’s cross from the right resulted in a Shrewsbury defender putting the ball into her own net after six minutes.

One minute later Spa doubled their advantage when Criddle went on a solo run through the heart of the Shrewsbury defence before calmly slotting the ball home.

Another goal came in the 9th minute, but this one went the way of Shrewsbury who capitalised on a mistake in the Droitwich defence to reduce the arrears.

A free-kick from Criddle from 35 yards out after 35 minutes then restored Spa’s two-goal advantage.

With half-time approaching, the visitors made it 4-1 when Diane O’Hare set-up Gregg to tap in from three yards out.

After the break Shrewsbury took just three minutes to pull a goal back.

But with ten minutes left Spa added their fifth when April Golding-Polden fed Cridle just on the edge of the penalty area to complete her hat-trick with a low shot which crept inside the near post.

Golding-Polden then fired in the sixth to complete the rout for Spa.
