Dickenson drives Himbleton to emphatic 238-run win over Rushwick

STU DICKENSON was the star of the show for Himbleton as his fantastic knock of 141 guided the Meadow Boys to a comprehensive 238-run victory over Rushwick in Division Three of the Worcestershire County League.

Rushwick won the toss and opted to field but were left stunned as Dickenson smashed in almost a century and a half of runs, which included 23 fours and five sixes, to guide Himbleton to 394-4.

Alistair Pretty knocked a confidence boosting 95 while Jon Critchlow, who is beginning to find is feet after a poor first half of the season, provided support with a strong 60.

Jamie Alford (39) and Sean Jenkins (16) also contributed to the tally for a Himbleton outfit which has scored 783 runs in their last two outings.




The Meadow Boys then wasted no time with their bowling as they skittled Rushwick out for 156 in the 35th over despite the best efforts of Stuart Tipper who top scored with 71.

Mike Rogers (4-36) did the damage with the ball, removing three of Rushwick’s opening four batsmen, while Jenkins (2-45) and Paul Guy (2-20) also chipped in.


Himbleton will look to continue their impressive batting form and claim their fourth win on the bounce tomorrow when they entertain rivals Avoncroft.

Himbleton Seconds sit comfortably in mid-table in Division Four Second XI despite a crushing eight-wicket defeat to Martley Seconds.

The Meadow Boys won the toss and opted to bat as they posted 235-8 from their 45 overs with Andrew Street (59) top scoring.

Keith Rose added a useful 41 while Tej Uppal (2-29), Tom Clement (2-31) and Ivan Moore (2-41) got a share of the wickets.

However, Martley made light work of reaching their target as Rob Ganderton’s unbeaten 111 guided the visitors to 239-2 in the 40th over.

Martin Sweet (52 no) and Ashley Jones (37) also chipped in.
