THREE was the magic number for Droitwich Dolphins as they secured a hat-trick of victories to win the third round of the Nuneaton League.
The club’s junior swimmers won three events to open up an unassailable 58 point lead at Tamworth last Saturday.
The 12-year-old boys Alex Munro, George Grech, Will Armstrong and Guy Duffy won all four individual events, both relays and contributing to the two canons.
The ten-year-old girls Sophie Pitts, Megan Evans, Martha Stead and Lily Smith were also on form and only dropped a single point.
Other individual victories were secured by Joshua Royle (2), Declan Woodbury in the nine years, Rowan Dennett in the ten years and Anja Kristy in the 12 years.
Royle and Woodbury were joined by Ollie Whiteside and Will Colley to take the nine years freestyle relay while the nine-year-old girls Olivia Weaver, Bethan Stokes, Sophie Peart and Lilia Barley showed depth in the team by taking both their relay wins and contributing to the winning girls’ canon.
Will Hughes, Harry Grech and Ben Chadwick joined Dennett to take victory in the boys ten years freestyle relay.
The final mixed cannon, which also included Will Hughes, Matthew Daniels, Milly Routledge and Malyssa Warfield, also saw victory for the Dolphins.
There were 18 personal best times from the 32 individual events showing how the work in training is paying its rewards.
