JOE DOYLE maintained his undefeated season after booking his place in the final of the National Junior Boxing Championship.

The Droitwich Amateur Boxing Academy student travelled to Grantham on Sunday to take on Hamza Hajeesheriff from East London Boxing Club.

Midlands champion Doyle was merciless in his bout as he overpowered his taller southpaw opponent with a mix of well-targeted head shots and savage body punches to clinch a unanimous points decision.

He will now meet Kieran Oakley from Waterside Boxing Club in Southampton for the national title on Easter Sunday.

However, there was disappointment for Liam Jones who was narrowly beaten in his semi-final contest.

Competing in his first championships Jones proved he can perform at the highest level after delivering a spirited display against Northern champion Syed Ali from Rochdale’s Hamer Boxing Club.

Jones was beaten by just two points.
