DROITWICH Dolphins got the new Worcester Winter League campaign off to a flying start.

Swimming against four strong teams in Worcester B, Redditch B, Perry Beaches and Bromsgrove, the Spa swimmers finished in a comfortable second place in the opening gala.

There were ten first places, seven seconds and 17 thirds on the day.

Individual victories went to James Clews (open 100m butterfly and breaststroke), Martha Stead (13/U 100m backstroke), Patrick Florendo (13/U 100 backstroke), Harry Grech (13/U 100m breaststroke), Erin Huxley (15/U 100m breaststroke) and Elize Smith (open 100m freestyle).

Stead, Florendo, and Grech were then joined by Zara Povey, Felicity Quiney and Will Hughes to win both the 13/U 6x25m freestyle and medley mixed relays.

Meanwhile, Smith and Clews teamed up with Rebecca Hadley, Anja Kristy, Oliver Retter and Sam Rowberry to take victory in the open mixed 6x25m medley relay.
