Droitwich Dolphins fight hard to claim fourth place finish

DROITWICH Dolphins travelled to Halesowen at the weekend to compete in the second round of the Worcester Winter League.

In an extremely difficult round of six teams on Saturday night, the Dolphins found themselves up against three of the best teams in the Worcestershire area.

With a few of the Dolphins swimmers tired from long course training and finding the 33-meter pool a challenge, they fought well to achieve fourth position overall on the night

The Dolphins came away with one victory, five seconds, two third and 10 fourth place finishes.

The solitary victory went to Felicity Quiney in the girls under-11 Backstroke, while second places went to William Hughes in the under-11 Freestyle, Ruth Hadley and Aaron Biddle in the Open Backstroke, Sophie Pitts in the under-11 Breaststroke and Chris Jenkinson in the Open Breaststroke.

Head coach Chris Hadley said: “It was a good mid-season test for the swimmers, especially those who will be competing in the Midland championships at the end of April and in May.”

The Dolphins have a couple more weeks of intense training before they start their preparation for the major summer competitions.
