DROITWICH Ladies A picked up their third win of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Division One season against Pershore A.

Caroline Brookes and Penny Maidment lost their first match 1-6, 3-6 before an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory in their second.

Lisa Pettener-Jones and Marelize Yorke won their first match 6-3, 6-0 before losing the second 3-6, 1-6.

Heidi Harris and Kate Hughes produced two excellent performances, winning 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 and 7-5, 6-1 to seal the 4-2 victory.

Droitwich Mixed A sit rock bottom of Division One following their 4-0 home defeat to Manor Park A but the match was much closer than the scoreline suggests.

Dee Smith and Scott Howell lost their first match in straight sets before a marathon match ended with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-7 defeat.

It was a similar story for Joe Maidment and Marelize Yorke as they also lost a match in straight sets before unluckily losing the long battle 1-6, 3-6, 6-7.

The Mixed C team also remain rooted to the bottom of Division Four East after slumping to a 3-1 defeat against Pershore B.

John Jenkins and Suzy Levay lost their first match in three sets having won the first and been a break up in the third.

Jenkins and Levay went on to lose their second match in straight sets.

Chris Passey and Heather Fellow produced a fine display to win their first match for the loss of three games before losing their second match in a gruelling three-set battle.

Elsewhere, Droitwich Men’s B maintained their promotion hopes from Division Five with a winning draw at Wall Heath.

The three pairs of John Moran with Carlos Segura, Adam Hair with Joe Maidment and Eric Cartelet with Nick King all managed to win one of their two matches and win enough individual games to claim a priceless victory.
