DROITWICH Mixed C played their final match of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League season on Sunday and remain top of the Division Four East table.
They produced a superb fightback away at Pershore B to claim a winning draw.
John Moran and Jackie Passey lost their first match 5-7, 5-7, as did James McKelvey and Heather Fellows by a scoreline of 5-7, 4-6 to leave Droitwich 2-0 down at the halfway stage.
However, Moran and Passey won their second match 6-4, 6-3 before McKelvey and Fellows won theirs 6-4, 6-0 as the visitors got the wining draw by 43 games to 38.
The Ladies F slipped to the foot of Division Ten East after suffering a 3-1 defeat to local rivals Bromsgrove G.
Janine Billinge and Sue Bryce gave their all but lost both of their match 4-6, 2-6 and 1-6, 2-6 respectively.
Shona Atherton and Bridget Gill were unlucky to lose their first match 3-6, 7-6, 1-6 before performing admirably to win their second 6-1, 6-1.
Relegation for the Men’s C team is all but confirmedĀ as they suffered a losing draw at home to Cookley in Division Five East.
Neil Bates and Ben Steel played some fine tennis tow in 6-3, 6-3 in their first match before losing the second 1-6, 4-6.
Makr Pearsall and Bob Smith lost the first game 2-6, 2-6 but responded well with a solid 6-3, 7-6 success in their second.
However, it was not enough to claim the win as Cookley won 39-34 on games.
In an incredibly close match against Ombersley C in Division Eight East, the Mixed F team unfortunately lost 3-1.
Husband and wife duo Roger and Alison Whiteman fought to the very end in both of their matches but lost 2-6, 7-6, 0-6 and 1-6, 6-4, 5-7 respectively.
Alexa Dean and David Watts won their first match in another three setter 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 before losing the second 3-6, 2-6.
Elsewhere, the Mixed D team lost 4-0 at home to a rampant Bromsgrove D team in Division Six East.
Nick Dickson and Lydia Walker-Cox lost their first match 3-6, 3-6 before a 2-6, 4-6 defeat in their second.
Mark Venables and Lucy Clive came close in their first match, pushing their opponents all the way in a 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 defeat before losing their second match in straight sets.
