DROITWICH racing sensation Tom Delaney is looking forward to taking part in his first ever senior rally event this week after recently passing his driving test.
Delaney had already been testing his skills in the Formula 1000 Junior Rally Series, where he finished third last season.
But after passing his test just ten days after his 17th birthday, the former Droitwich Spa High School pupil can now make the step up to senior racing with the non-competitive sections on public roads.
Ahead of his gravel debut at Ludlow-based Woodpecker Rally on Saturday, Delaney has spent the majority of this year testing his Suzuki Swift around Sweet Lamb and Higgins in the Welsh forests as well as pushing himself to the limit on the icy Norwegian roads.
Woodpecker Rally is organised by Sixty and Worcestershire Motor Club and features 38 miles of forests surrounding the Welsh border.
He said: “After three years as a front runner in the Junior Rally Championship, I am really looking forward to my gravel debut on my first senior rally just six weeks after my 17th birthday.
“Our aim is to finish this event along with other gravel rallies this season in readiness for a full programme of events across the UK and Europe in 2017.”
