BUDDING Joe Roots or aspiring Charlotte Edwards are invited to join Droitwich Spa Cricket Club for the forthcoming season, when a girls side will be fielded for the first time in the club’s history.
A signing-on session is being held at the Club’s St Peter’s Fields pavilion on Friday, April 1 at 7.30pm as Spa look to bolster their junior ranks.
Youngsters can then participate in the first outdoor practice the following Friday (April 8) to see if they like the sport before committing to a membership fee.
Boys from Years Three to Eight and girls from Years Four to Six are invited to join the youth set-up which will feature an under-11 girls’ softball cricket team this summer.
It is hoped that this development will lead to more girl sides being fielded in future seasons.
